Indonesian Society of Medicinal Chemistry (ISMC)

The Indonesian Society of Medicinal Chemistry (ISMC) is an independent association founded in 2001. Free from any political convictions, it represents a scientific organization. Its objective is to advance the science of medicinal chemistry by promoting cooperation and encouraging strong links between the national adhering organizations in order to promote contacts and exchanges between medicinal chemists in Indonesia, Asia and around the World.

An important part of the ISMC activities is the organization of international scientific meetings. These include the biennial National Conference on Medicinal Chemistry. Furthermore, in 2009 ISMC started jointly launched a collaboration with universities and research institutes to organize international meetings, Frontiers in Medicinal Chemistry, bringing together leading Indonesian medicinal chemists.

The ISMC also acknowledges the excellence of medicinal chemists’ work, by conferring two major awards: Haryanto Dhanutirto Award and Timmerman Award, which are planned to be given every two years for outstanding achievements in the field of Medicinal Chemistry.

The ISMC has established link with the Asian Federation of Medicinal Chemistry (AFMC) and wish to link with the Medicinal Chemistry Division of the American Chemical Society and the European Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences (EUFEPS) which give the ISMC a broad international footprint.
